As a 20 year veteran with METRO, Gwen brings valuable experience to her new position as a Stakeholder Affairs Representative.  She served as the small and disadvantaged business community for over 20 years as METRO's Senior Director for Business Development.  Her accomplishments included developing METRO's Small and Disadvantaged business Program that was replicated by the City of Houston, Port of Houston and Houston Community College.  She created the METRO Opportunities University which enabled dozens of small businesses to compete successfully on METRO contract and procurement opportunities.   She also served as Senior Director of Staffing, Employee Relations, EEO, Business Development and Personnel Services.  She successfully directed METRO's recruitment and staffing efforts for the first METRORail project, and ensured 35 percent small business participation.

While earning her Master's Degree in Social Work specializing in Community Organization and Social Planning from the University of Houston, Gwen lived across the street from Palm Center where the METRO Southeast Corridor office is located.  "I am thrilled to be returning full circle to my original community in Houston which brings me back to familiar faces and organizations."

Gwen received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Oklahoma and a second Master's Degree in Political Science/Public Administration from the University of Houston.  She is also a certified Senior Professional in Human Resource Management.

Gwen's community involvement includes Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Antioch Baptist Church, Community Artists Collective, Conference of Minority Transportation Officials, HR Houston, Houston Ebony Music Society and Society for Human Resource Management.  She is a Class XIV graduate of Leadership Houston.
