HP / Cypress Park & Ride launches successfully - with construction underway at permanent site

If you're stressed out from sitting in traffic on the U.S.-290, relief just arrived.  Thanks to a partnership with Hewlett-Packard (HP), METRO began operations of its new 217 HP / Cypress Park & Ride on Monday, January 22.

A lease agreement allows METRO's customers to park in about 620 spaces at HP's property (see map), while the permanent facility is built nearby.  More details are available on a news release issued yesterday and a blog post also dated January 18.

METRO had projected that on the first month of operations there would be an average of 500 boardings per weekday.  On its first day of operations, there were 478 boardings.  That's 95 percent of the estimated average weekday boardings.  How does this compare with other opening days? The highest opening day ridership for a new Park & Ride in the past 15 years was 379 boardings on Route 257 Townsen.
