METRO, HP to relieve congestion on U.S.-290 |

METRO, HP SET TO ELIMINATE 600+ CARS FROM U.S.-290 CORRIDOR |
Thanks to a partnership with Hewlett Packard (HP), METRO is set to put a dent in the amount of vehicles traveling in the U.S.-290 corridor. A lease agreement will allow METRO's customers to park in about 620 spaces at HP's property. The lease enables METRO to operate the Park & Ride service from HP's office, located on the northbound 290 service road, just east of Skinner Road (see map).
The agreement provides a temporary location for the 217 Cypress Park & Ride Service while the permanent facility is built nearby. The agreement shows HP'S commitment to corporate citizenship, as it provides much needed relief to the congested U.S.-290 corridor.
Travelers on the U.S.-290 corridor will be able to use the 217 Cypress Park & Ride service as early as Monday, January 22, 2007. In addition to downtown stops, there will be a stop at the Northwest Transit Center, providing connectivity to the Galleria area, Greenway Plaza and the Texas Medical Center. Inbound downtown stops are: Smith at Preston, Smith at Rusk, Smith at Dallas and Smith at Jefferson. Outbound stops are: Louisiana at Pease, Louisiana at Lamar, Louisiana at Capitol, & Louisiana at Congress.
The 217 Cypress Park & Ride will operate Monday through Friday from 5:45 - 7:45 am (inbound) and 3:15 - 6:30 pm (outbound). Rush hour service will have a peak frequency of 15 minutes. There will be no midday service.
