Incorporating neighborhood character to METRO Solutions
What is the best way to foster community participation, preserve the character of the different neighborhoods of the METRO Solutions corridors, and encourage local artists to participate in the art installations of the stations? This is the triple challenge METRO had as we crafted the METRO Solutions Public Art Program. Building on the success of the art installations of the Main Street Light Rail line, the Program will provide transit passengers and the surrounding neighborhoods with a rich variety of artwork. Art can express cherished values of communities, reduce vandalism, and energize the experience of users of the system. A Call to Artists has been issued, with details on how artists can incorporate the character of the neighborhoods as envisioned by its members.
