What will happen to the displaced persons whose properties are taken?

The Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act requires that relocation and advisory assistance be provided to all eligible individuals and businesses displaced by a proposed transportation project in accordance with the provisions of the act.  Comparable housing that is decent, safe, and sanitary must be available for displaced persons.

Relocations could be accomplished either by providing compensation for moving residences or businesses back from the proposed right of way on the currently occupied properties (where possible), or by providing assistance to locate and acquire available housing or business properties elsewhere.
